Sanni Lehtonen

Spending my childhood in the Finnish archipelago, I learned nature's systems, its pace, its care, before it ever became something I could explain. That way of learning still shapes how I work with clay. It's something the earth gives you, if you're willing to slow down and listen to what it wants to become.

Listening and observing nature is centre to my process. I want to appreciate how things grow through collaboration instead of control. How mycelium builds connection instead of hierarchy. How decomposition isn't an ending, just a different kind of giving. I try to bring these ways of being into how I make, how I live, how I treat the people and places around me.

I make with intent and I take my time. One piece at a time, by hand, organically imperfect. It's a protest against a world that wants everything pressed with the same mould and a token of gratitude to the earth that sustains us. Clay doesn't owe us anything, and yet it gives. I'm trying to give something back.
